Project Type: Precision Hydro Demolition Using High Pressure Water Jet (HPWJ) Robot for Concrete Removal
GPR and Echo scans conducted by Quickway Constructions Pty Ltd revealed cavities and honeycombing in a concrete wall at Rockdale M6. The compromised concrete required a specialised form of demolition to protect the waterproofing and the integrity of the structural member.
Silver Raven was contracted to carefully remove the affected concrete, with the critical requirement of not exceeding depths of 200mm to 350mm as identified by the test results. To achieve this, we utilised the Aqua Cutter High Pressure Water Jet (HPWJ) Robot, a precise and efficient tool that allowed us to precisely cut the exact depth required.

Using High Pressure Water Jetting, we were able to remove the compromised concrete across multiple areas in a short time frame. Silver Raven’s HPWJ Robot worked by directing high-pressure water through a precision nozzle, which selectively removed the concrete to the required depths in the specified areas. Unlike mechanical methods, which often use force or cutting blades, the water jet dissolves and washes away the concrete without impacting the integrity of the reinforcement.

The HPWJ robot is the only solution capable of achieving such highly specific and complex cutouts without damaging underlying reinforcement. Traditional methods, such as jackhammers or saw cutting would damage the reinforcement and fail to achieve such precise consistent cut depths. With the HPWJ system, we were able to work with great precision, efficiently removing the compromised concrete without compromising the wall’s integrity. The entire process was completed efficiently, and without any unintended consequences, ensuring the repair was both effective and precise.
Silver Raven’s HPWJ robot played a key role in completing the task quickly and safely. By utilising the robot, we significantly reduced physical labour, increasing the efficiency and speed of the overall process. Additionally, the robot eliminates the need for an operator to be in close proximity to the work area, further enhancing safety.
